Travel Information
Welcome to Montréal!
Welcome to the second largest French-speaking metropolis in the world, a city where hospitality has a very French tone.
Apart from the French language, don’t be surprised to hear more than 30 languages spoken in the streets of this culturally rich and diverse city. Such is the urban mosaic of this vibrant metropolis located on an island in the St. Lawrence River. Here, the “joie de vivre” is synonymous with festivals, gastronomy, music, history, museums, tarmacs, street artists and espresso bars.
Montreal is known as the hub of creativity and innovation in the development of the arts, multimedia and software, and is a leader in scientific research.
Its four universities attract a dynamic student population. This city of culture and creativity offers its visitors a range of exciting options to choose from – dance, theatre, music, lectures, shopping, gastronomy, outdoor recreation… or simply soaking up its unique atmosphere.
Make Your Trip to Montréal More Sustainable
We invite all conference participants to take a simple step toward reducing their environmental impact. Traveling, staying in hotels, and dining out all contribute to carbon emissions, but together, we can make a difference.
The City of Montréal offers an easy-to-use Carbon Footprint Calculator that helps you estimate the emissions generated by your travel, accommodation, and meals, and offset them through certified projects that protect the planet.
Take a minute to calculate and offset your conference-related emissions
By offsetting your carbon footprint, you’re helping Tourism Montréal, in partnership with Aéroports de Montréal and the Université du Québec in Chicoutimi’s Carbone boréal initiative supporting tree planting and carrying out university research on carbon sequestration. By offsetting your emissions, you actively participate in fighting climate change and restoring the boreal forest.
Thank you for doing your part.
